Mona Hijab and Kuwaiti Hijab

This article has been created to help Sisters understand the difference between the above named hijabs so you can be confident in deciding which hijab to buy and to ensure you remain happy with your purchase, wherever it is made :-)

Alhamdulillah, there are now many retailers who offer a wide range of hijabs to the general public, with online retailers making it easier than ever before to help you purchase all you need from the comfort of your home (or office).

This has also seen the introduction of two new hijab designs, known as the Mona Hijab and the Kuwaiti Hijab. Both are relatively new designs and have gained a huge popularity among muslimahs all over the world with the Kuwaiti hijab being more widely available and the original Mona Hijab being offered by a handful of stores, including ourselves here at Hijab Store Online.

The Kuwaiti Hijab :

The above design is the most common with a Kuwaiti hijab. This is where the scarf is sewn attached to the bonnet across the width. When worn, the scarf trails under the chin, this is then wrapped round the head and pinned to secure.

The Kuwaiti hijab has a tunnel shaped bonnet, meaning it is cut and sewn with the sides parallel to each other, much like a rectangle. This means that when it is worn, it will cover the neck area sufficiently but does not flare out over and across the shoulders.

At Hijab Store Online, we also offer a second style of Kuwaiti hijab, as shown in the following diagram:

The above is a simple picture of the Kuwaiti hijab laid out flat while the second picture shows an example of the Kuwaiti hijab on our model. This style offers the look of the first style but without the bonnet.

Basically, it is a long scarf with a peak added across the length of the hijab and stitched under the chin to create an opening for the wearer and to ensure the hijab remains secure while remaining maintenance free.

This style is not available elsewhere and remains very popular here at Hijab Store Online.

The Mona Hijab:

Currently, the original Mona Hijab is not widely produced, hence the reason it is not available in the shops and is offered to you via the internet from certain stores, including Hijab Store Online.

Upon first glance, the diagram may look a little confusing. But the mona hijab, once seen and worn, is a wonderful concept. The mona hijab is a 1 piece hijab, and basically consists of an underscarf (similar to a one piece al-amira hijab) with a scarf sewn along the seam of the peak on top of the underscarf.

When the underscarf is put on, the attached scarf falls naturally into place and requires to be wrapped just once round the head and fastened with a hijab pin or tucked under the chin. The fabric of the underscarf is non-slip and will stay in place.

As can be seen from the diagram, the mona hijab has a wider bonnet/underscarf than the kuwaiti hijab and does go over across the shoulders and the front of the chest.

Another point to note is the scarf of the Kuwaiti hijab is attached under the chin and the scarf of the mona hijab is attached along the top of the head.

Hijab Store Online offers to you all of the above designs with the website updated on a daily basis with many new exciting designs.

We hope you found the above guide useful.
